KJC Big Band

Last night the KJC big band had their first gig at House of Music in Thamel.  In this photo you can see one of my students, Hitesh from the Punjab region of India, playing bass.  He started taking acoustic lessons with me in October when the basses arrived and after practicing like a mad man he was able to play for the big band.  So far he is my most dedicated student and every day he shows me his blisters and says something along the lines of "Maaan, I'm like real bass player now man."

The band played a little over a half hour under the direction of Mariano Abello.  In the sax section we have Burcu from Turkey, Inap the theory teacher at KJC, Maghu (sp?) a general in the Nepali army, and on trumpet is David from Spain.  We have a very diverse group at KJC.
